la mala yerba is a política, a praxis, an ancestor reclamation movement. the colonizer may have cut our tongues, but they can not cut our roots. like the mala yerbas//the bad weeds we keep coming back, stronger, fiercer + in deeper remembrance each time we are cut down. mala yerbas are the queer, the black trans, the fluid, el inmigrante, the sex worker, the intersectional, anti-capitalist, abolitionist, the-this-white-man's-society-wasn't-created-for-us-so-we-better-create-our-own-autonomous-communities beings that modern society calls other, criminal, bruja. la mala yerba remembers that our existence is resistance, knowing that in between our cells we already carry the medicine of liberation. la mala yerba is always alive, always has been, always will be. it is from us that the universe is born + new worlds are possible.
Mala's OFRENDA
todxs somos mala yerberxs/we are all bad weeds birthing interventions + resistance everywhere.
this mala yerbera's medicine is where ancestors, plants + putxs meet. we co-create spaces of remembrance for Black, indigenous, people of color, explicitly including Asian, Pacific Islanders, Hawaiian folx [bipoc], where we ritualize healing ourselves, each other, and the sacredness of earth + ancestor. we create multi-hour to multi-month healing experiences where we call home the sacred that has been displaced by colonization + capitalism. we co-create with you, where ever you live, in your hood, on your reservation, in your home, because we know that all revolutions began here. we welcome in the medicine of your ancestors as we remember the healing possible in sacred community, ceremony + sharing intimacy with earth's sacred offerings: the elements + the plants.

meet the (RE)indigequeer embodying la mala yerba
hola cariñx,
mad love to you for taking the minutes to love up on this piece of my heart. I'm a two spirit (re)indigequeer feminista, brujita, abolitionista, mexica, angelina, ARTivist, writer, truthteller + yolotzin mapi. i come from el ombligo del universo, i come from the belly of the universe: Mexico and the borderlands of Tongva territories, so called Los Angeles, Califas. i am on a spiritual path to bleed sacredness all over turtle island that dismembers borders. i co-create spaces of remembrance in ceremony, circles + knowledge shares. i co-create with you, your ancestors + the medicine in your community, because i believe that there is medicine everywhere YOU are; in your skin, your people, your hood, your city. i have many homes, in between my heartbeats, across spiritual communities, and literally! like our ancestors, i live nomadically, transitioning from home to home with the seasons and as communities call me. where ever you are, i will be. it's important to me that you know that i live from all pronouns, especially we + us, because i believe that our journey to liberation necessitates all of us, necessitates our Black, our Black trans*, our immigrant, our cholos y sex workers, necessitates all the medicine we have within us. i use my wild tongue to liberate myself, liberate ancestor, and weave from my open native, black y mestiza veins the many worlds of freedom already possible. stay connected to my journeys by inviting me to your community, joining my mala yerba notes and connecting on the instagram! con amor, xochicoatl |
